Prof Martin Snow

Unit: Science Research and Applications Position: SARCHI Chair: Solar Physics Qualifications: PhD
Martin is the newly appointed SARChI chair in solar physics. His research focus is on variability of the solar chromosphere, measurements of ultraviolet solar spectral irradiance variability, and the Sun-Earth connection on both short (space weather) and long (space climate) timescales. He uses data from a variety of space instruments, and has experience in the design, calibration, and interpretation of satellite data.

Research Interests

  • Solar variability
  • Measurement of solar spectral irradiance from space
  • Solar influence on the Earth atmosphere and climate
  • Heliosphere
