Investigating the correlation between ionospheric storms and scintillation processes

In this project, a student will use the available database of ionospheric storm effects over African region during both CME and CIR -driven storms to investigate the correlation between positive (P), negative (N) ionospheric storm effects and scintillation. At low and equatorial latitudes scintillations are associated with the occurrence of equatorial plasma irregularities. At mid-latitude scintillations are associated for example to the occurrence of medium-scale travelling ionospheric disturbances. The ionosonde data and Global Navigation Satelite system data will be used.
